Smoothie Blender Reviews – The Blendtec Total Blender Designer Series looks nice, like most products from Blendtec actually… minus the *cough* Kitchen Mill *cough* . The Designer Series however has that little something that makes you go “wow” when you take it out of the box. You will also want to keep this sitting right on the kitchen counter at everyone’s sight. Time to show that beauty off people!

I found the Blendtec Total Blender Designer Series rather “okay” on pictures. It wasn’t love at first sight…neither was it at second or third sight still. The more I looked at it the more I wondered if I really wanted to buy one just to make a review of another product from Blendtec. We all know this by now, they have awesome products if you have the money and this new blendtec just looked like another version of the original Total Blender series. Well it is, yes and no. If your looking for that sturdy blender that WILL deliver everytime you need it, you got it ! If you need some change , well you got it too because this is one of the purest design I’ve seen for a blender. The Blendtec Total Blender Designer Series really stand out of the crowd.

It’s strong, very strong. Do not be fooled by his innocent look. I will go right to the point, this is simply an alternative to the original Blendtec Total Blender. I don’t need to give a complete review of what it can do, just go read about the Total Blender, no need to repeat here, let’s stay focused.

First Impression

Like I said, I was not really thrilled when ordering this blender but as soon as I opened the box, I understood his beauty. It’s such a simple epurated design, it can’t fit everywhere, you got to have the house made for it I guess…you know, something that stands out of the crowd? …Mine does not but still, I would keep it if I didn’t have such a big heart and gave it to a good friend of mine who’s got a crazy house lol.

Just like the people at Blendtec say on their website about this blender,  and I find they are right on this one, “The Swiss Army Knife of Blenders”. To top it all, it DOES look good. If you are unsure on what to do, I suggest you simply get the good old Blendtec Total Blendter.  Either way, you can’t go wrong! And one more thing, something very important for me , this blender is so easy to clean up, no buttons or any space where food can get stuck.

The vitamix 5200 was introduced to me by a friend of a friend. She told me her husband had just bought this great blender for their entire kitchen needs and ‘oh god’ it was ‘so much’ better than my Blendtec Total Blender…

This blender was  quite new to me so I didnt have much info about it at the time she told me about it.  I had only used one other Vitamix blender in my entire life and it was the Vitamix CIA Professional one. It was a good blender but nothing to write to my mother.

So I ordered my Vitamix 5200 on December the 1st. Received my package only 3 days later which I consider REALLY fast in my case.
At first I thought this blender looked like it was made 30 years ago. Old school design! Big buttons , sharp corners.  There is no way I would prefer this one over my Blendtec. The Vitamix 5200 is simply an ugly piece of engineering. But you know what? The retro style is coming back our way so you might just go with the performance, screw the style. It’s a blender after all. But if you have visit coming over, hide it.

Now, since it is considered of high quality if we look at the price and how powerful it is, I began with the test of tests. ICE. Tons of ice. Start the engine. 45 secondes later all I could see was snow. This is how strong this blender is.

You will get a “whole food” recipe book which I found interesting and you also get a 50$ bonus gift when buying right from Amazon. ( best price I found so far and free shipping! )

CONCLUSION?

I can easily compare this Vitamix 5200 to the Blendtec Total Blender for speed and efficiency. All smoothies I tried were , guess what, very smooth!  I tried many other types of recipes you would expect to make in a kitchen once in a while and everything went as expected.. I guess it is what you would expect from a blender this price. I give it a 8.78/10. The whole package makes it worth the price. Happy blending!

Ninja Pulse Blender BL204/205 Review The Ninja Pulse Blender sounded good on TV, like most products they try to sell us every day that we just can’t live without…yea right!  So anyway, being a “master blender reviewer”, I decided to give this a try considering a lot of people will probably want to buy  this new shiny Ninja Kitchen System product and will need an un-biased review to finalize their choice. I’m here to serve people, that’s my destiny !

My new Ninja Pulse!

So I received my Ninja Pulse blender last week, packaging was great like all Ninja Blender Products. These guys always come up with clever ideas to package their products so that it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to the customer at the end of the line. Small details like this make a difference at the end for the customer who will pay less for more. At first sight this unit is probably the closest thing I have found to the Magic Bullet Express; major differences being the jars and the equipment/parts coming with it. The base is solid and not slippery. The engine does make a lot of noise but you can’t have it all for a product under 100$. The engine is 700 watts which is not a lot but more than enough for waht you will probably want to do with this blender. Lets just say that it will crush ice quite easily, enough to turn it all in snow well under a minute. I would’nt crush frozen fruits all day long however as this is very hard on most blenders. At thispont you might want to buy a blender from Blendtec and never look back afterward… but let’s face it, their products are of commercial quality and will cost 4 times the price you will pay for the Ninja Pulse Blender. The containers are made of BPA free plastics which is nice for our little planet (including the single serve cups). The single-serve cups and 40-oz. bowl are also microwave-safe but it is strongly recommended not to go to the point of boiling, I found this information deep on their website under a FAQ section and thought this was major and everyone should know about this. You dont want to get intoxicated drinking a sweet smoothie dont you? . The gradient lines on the jars to be easy to read and I must admit actually that the entire process was quite a breeze throughout all the tests I have made since last week. On the bad side, I have found the electric cord lenght on the Ninja Pulse blender to be a bit too shor. With only 2 feet of lenght, you better have a connector close to where you intend on using it. There is a storage space underneath the motor base to wrap it around if need be.

CONCLUSION

All in all, considering the cheap price, all the goodies you get and from my personal experience using it in the last couple of days, I recommend buying the Ninja Pulse Blender if you need an affordable blender that will let you do a lot of different things in your kitchen for very little work. In my case, I’ll probably give this one to my sister ( I just have too many blenders at home and can’t keep them all..) and I knowwithout a doubt that she’ll be more than happy . Best Blender – 2011

Well here we are at the end of the year and so far this year has been a great year for many reasons. First we get this awesome Twister Jar from Blendtec that I did not see coming AT ALL. It will make MANY high-end blender companies feel bad for what they have done. This is simple the best blender you can get in this price range  and will probably be for the next year.  3- Best blender - Low Budget :

Ninja Master Prep Blender I’ll be honest, this is not the best blender if you are aimig for smoothies or frozen drinks because the ice or the frozen fruits might become hard on the entire unit after a while. It will not give you the best texture either. HOWEVER, if I could only keep one blender in my kitchen, I would choose the Ninja Master Prep Blender anyday. This blender is so useful that once you have one at hand in the kitchen you end up using it a lot more than the other ones. As a runner up, I would suggest the Magic Bullet . I found that out just after a few tries as I just could not get it to jam of fail even though I  tried some really complicated and thick recipes. It really succeded where a lot of blenders have not. Chopping, juicing, blending, grinding, it did it all quite easily.

The 72 oz. Pitcher creates a powerful vortex, making sure your ingredients get thoroughly blended. The Ninja 1100 Blender really lets you make anything from delicious smoothies , to soups, dressings, sauces and ice-cream using it’s powerful multiple blade system. The Ninja Pulse Master Prep Blender:

What A Great Surprise!

I received an email a couple weeks ago from a guy asking me if I could review the Ninja  Master Prep Blender. I didn’t really want to review it to tell you the truth but just to make sure that I REALLY did not want to try it, I did a bit of research on the subject and after reading some very good comments about it I decided to give it a go and see what this nice little piece of hardware could really do. I guess being curious of nature really helped my decision

Some people will say this is not a smoothie Blender… I know. And you know what? I decided to try and make it a smoothie blender and see what happen. I’m not really into blenders that are built for cooking purpose. I like to make drinks and smoothies the most so I had to test these options. Chopping stuff really came second in my mind but I did try it and was pleasantly surprised!

The beast

So I received my Ninja Pulse Blender – Master Prep Professionnal 2 weeks ago and here’s what the box looked like :

As you can see, this is the Professional edition which means it has more power. By more power I mean an extra 50 Watts. If you don’t plan on crushing ice, the lesser version might be just enough for you. However the day will come , and I mean it, when you will need the extra power and you will thank yourself for getting the big engine at this point. In my case it was a no brainer, I HAD to get the professional edition because I planned on crushing a lot of frozen fruits which is very hard on most blenders.

The Review

After a couple days of extensive use I must say this unit is quite powerful, more powerful than I thought at first sight. It really did a great job for my smoothies; all kind of smoothies. One thing however, this unit will not make you the perfect smoothies you will get from some of the big blenders you see on this website, however , for the price I don’t think you can get anything closer.

The great thing about this compared to some of the big brothers, you get 3 different jars and each jar has his own set of blades which means you never have to wash your blades between each recipe. In fact, I’ve made a salsa in the smallest bowl, then I blended an icy Margarita in the pitcher 10 seconds later without having to wash the jars or blades.

You have to admit, the size also really help when you have to store the unit. It fits anywhere. I really found it practical, simple and sturdy.  There is some great value for the money considering you are getting a blender, 2 sizes of jars/pitchers (40 ozs and 48 ozs) and a 16 ozs  food processor. Each container has its own lid in case you wish to store directly in the bowl.

This is a pulse blender which means you have to actually push the button until you like what you see in the bowl. There are no buttons or special features or any big fat instruction manual. It’s as easy as it can get, just like the Magic Bullet Express which I also highly recommend.

All in all, if I had any kind of rating system I would give the Ninja Pulse blender a nice 4.5/5 considering the price and what you can do with it.  However since I dont have any kind of rating system so I’ll just say that I highly recommend the Ninja Pulse blender if you can’t afford one of the big guys. It will actually beat some them at their own game!

Well it has finally arrived, the new Twister Jar from Blendtec.  This new addition to  Blendtec’s already large family isn’t just a gadget fortunately! It is indeed quite a much needed component and  take my words for it once you understand the meaning of it, there is no coming back.

This tool finally give us the possibility to blend THICK stuff. Acutally it will blend the thickest recipes in 90 seconds or less. I know this sound a bit of a let down, who would want to blend thick stuff anyway? Well,  just the possibility to make ice cream now really made this thing a winner in my heart. Ice cream ain’t the end of it all either because if you want, you can make butter. Did I hear you say almond butter? Believe it or not, you can do almond butter right from raw almonds, that’s it. Nothing else required. You can also use it to create the following:  All Kind of Nut Butters , Hummus, Baby Food, Dips, Dressings, Thick smoothies and more! Very uselful tool to add to your arsenal.

Conclusion?

So far so good but this tool is still quite new to me so I’ll come back later, probably next week with a bit  more info once I get the perfect hold of it. It ain’t complicated actually, it’s simply a  matter of twisting the top of the jar with your hand while the blade is doing his job underneath. This way it takes down, using its two curved arms, anything that stick to the jar so you can’t really end up with a pack of stuff not moving at all with the blade screaming for more.

Quick Recipe to Use With Your  Blendtec Twister Jar

Roasted Red Pepper Hummus 

A twist on the traditional hummus with a mild red pepper taste and a slight kick of garlic and spice to serve as a dip or spread.

Ingredients:
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 Tbsp tahini
1 clove garlic, quartered
15 oz can garbanzo beans, drained and ¼ C liquid reserved
1 C roasted red bell pepper
½ tsp ground cumin
⅛ tsp cayenne pepper

Directions:
Add ingredients, including the ¼ cup reserved garbanzo bean liquid, to the Blendec FourSide jar (or  the Blendtec Twister Jar)  in order listed and secure lid. Select “Dips” and serve.

The Magic Bullet Express is quite the beast. In my case, it really simplified everything. This is probably the blender that I have used the most in my entire life.

I used to go to the gym quite alot in the past and let me tell you, I could drink up to 3 smoothies A DAY. For about 2 years, the only blender I  used was the Magic Bullet when I needed my smoothies fast and simple. It wasn’t even the Express version of the product, I think it was actually the original one at that moment.

At first I thought this product was some kind of joke that wouldn’t last more than a year or two like your usual info-product we see on tv every morning. I still ended up getting one , a christmas gift actually.. lol. Ah well you know what? I never looked back after my first couple of uses. Wow, so easy to use. Everything is fast and easy when using the bullet. I would say if you are not looking for the PERFECT mixture, this is probably my top pick. Probably the cheapest also. The Quality vs Price ratio can’t be beaten by any other product I know.

It’s also easy and fast to clean . You can even use the cup you mix in to drink your smoothie or any other drink and then you just wash it with water and BAM its clean! Ready to use again!  Seriously, everything can be done under 2 minutes if you want. Pour milk, put frozen fruits, some protein of your choice and just push the cup down  and the engine start. No need to select 45 different settings. ONE push and thats it. You hold it as long as you want and then you’re done.

The Reviews

With the Magic Bullet you can chop, mix, blend, whip, grind and more–all in 10 seconds or less. One thing that YOU MUST do is read the manual.  A lot of people have been complaining about this product for different reasons that are explained in the book, so in other words, READ THE MANUAL. The recipe book has some great recipes however, some recipes simply don’t make sense for some reason. There is one or two of those who just won’t make anything good like, for example, mixing cheddar cheese with some jalapeno… no liquid involved. My guess is they meant Velveta because that’s what they use in the TV commercial. So use judgement people.

I have found this blender to be very durable and well made. Still working like new after a couple of years even though I rarely use it nowadays.

To conclude this quick review. I definitely recommend this product.
